Since 2003 rod has been a Lead Creative Practitioner working for Creative Partnerships in schools on the West Coast of Cumbria. Creative Partnerships is the Government's flagship creative learning programme, designed to develop the skills of young people across England, raising their aspirations and achievements, and opening up more opportunities for their futures. This world-leading programme is transforming teaching and learning across the curriculum. Working with Creative Partnerships, schools use creativity to solve problems and see real improvements in pupil behaviour and school performance.
Rod has worked at St Benedicts Secondary School Whitehaven, St Patricks Primary Cleator Moor, Ellenborough and Ewanrigg Primary Maryport and Beckstones Primary Harrington. In all of these schools he has worked with staff and pupils as a designer maker often with assistance from other artists from the Creative Partnerships network. Collaboration and inspiration has been the name of the game.
